Anyone else been folowing whats going on with that site.

Cliffs notes: The owner/operator has not been seen for months, and the sites domain expires in July of this year. Many of the ROE members are predicting the site will disappear.

IMO ampguts is one of the coolest car audio resources out there and I don't want to lose it so heres what I was thinking:

I can download that entire section of the site, and extract all the data and pictures. Reformat it into a new website that I can host and maintain. I'd even register a .com domain for it and put an advertising banner on there to pay for few dollars a month the domain would cost. I've got cable internet with enough upload bandwidth to host the site, and a spare PC I could use as a server.

I have a very extensive knowledge of computer hardware/software but I know next to nothing about web design, so if anybody on here DOES design websites I may ask for your help........

Of course the next concern is copyright issues....... but as long as the owner of ROE has disappeared, there won't be any as he would be the copyright owner.

Of couse this is all assuming ROE does go away. I've heard SSA has been interested in taking it over if they could ever get in contact with the owner.... which hasn't happened so far.

So this is all just speculation as of now. I'd only go trhough with this if the site were to disappear.

Questions, comments, what ya think.

Someone really needs to at lease save ampguts.
Great site to use when looking up info on older amps.

If nothing else M.S., download ampguts and save it for future generations :-)

What a coincidence, I just checked ROE, actually. Updates are supposed to resume shortly. He posted that a few days ago. I noticed there seems to be a few more companies in the videos section.

From what I know, A few of the SSA staff/mods have been keeping ROE running since late last year. And a lot of people do think it is dying a slow death and will eventually be gone. They have even already made a different forum for when it reaches its demise.

Theres a thread talking a little about it on the new forum in the OT section.

Shon, due to the sudden awareness that people want to buy his site, he realized it is still worth something, so he has returned. As to what capacity, I have no idea. He does not return our emails or answer our questions, and we have tried hard to keep the forum under control with the limited access we have.

The ROE shop is gone, and I am not sure if the videos and ampguts will be maintained. Shon did something that had great potential, then I think he did not want to deal with it any more and it grew wildly fast with very little direction. It is a shame.

M.S. i'd be willing to help with the site design. I have Dreamweaver and am no expert but could reproduce the ROE Amp Guts section.

Well see the problem is, now that the site is still going to be around, all of the ampguts stuff is under copyright....... even if they don't maintain it at all.

We could create a site similar to ampguts, but IDK how we would get all the pics of the amps on there now without breaking ROE's copyright.......
