I used to hate the French cause of what I had seen on tv/news, but now I realize they're quite a unique bunch. I can't believe Cuba offers better service than you guys. How can those criminals/terroriest be treated better than 911 people and normal citizens?? Didn't idiot Bush make it sound like those thugs/criminals were being punished in a "special" prison?? I thought Canada had great medicare, now I see we don't come anywhere near France/Cuba. Canada has the same greedy hospitals and drug companies leeching off the average people. The only difference I see between Canada and USA is, the leeches here also get paid by the government (which belongs to citizens). When will anything be done to stop this maddness? It seems no one cares as long as they get to buy million dollar houses and expensive cars. What a shame. |

Like everything in life, nothing's 100% true/real, but there are some truth mixed in. So if you dismiss it cause you hate so and so, then you're missing the boat completely. Probably the same reason why no one really cares about global warming. Most non believers say, earth is too "big", it's still too cold so it can't happen, "not all" scientists agree so it can't be all that bad etc... I think people need to band together and do something about it. |

Not trying to sound rude, but how did you manage to miss all the news on ice caps melting and extreme temperature changes in Europe?? Just curious, what do you think GLOBAL WARMING is all about? Tell me in your own term. Don't repeat what google says. Kyle, don't concentrate on minor things. Like I said, look at the bigger picture. Let's say Michael's movie is 99% fake. Did you see the cost of medical supplies? How come you skipped over France and Canada's medicare system? Can you name one family where they didn't lose thousands of dollars due to hospital visit/treatment? Why do you get so blind sided by petty things? If you take away our almost free medicare system, we're just as screwed as the states. The precriptions cost as much as there. This is probably due to the fact that the same greedy drug companies there, also sell it here. Anyways, it DOESN'T matter whether you hate michael or not. Look what's happening around you. |

Bronze Member Username: Fred_sanfordHuntsville, Alabama Usa Post Number: 33 Registered: Nov-07 | I said the temp. has risen by 1.5 degrees over the last 100 years .that is not up for debate,but as far as the ice caps melting, the antartic icecap is still getting THICKER not thinner.the edges of the artic icecap have got thinner due to changes in ocean currents.this happens every 30to50 years naturally without any help from us.Oh by the way, if global warming is having such a huge effect why was the hottest year on record according to NASA 1934? I used to believe in man made global warming til I stopped reading just the headlines and started checking the real facts on the subject.before Al Gores movie "the inconveniant thruth" was shown in english schools they had to add a disclaimer to the begining that their were over a dozen "mistakes" in the facts!im not the one who needs to spend time on google,i already did. |

It's too easy to start insulting. Since that won't accomplish anything, I'll be civil. You still haven't defined what "global warming" is to you. According to your post, it doesn't exist. If that's the case, I'm sure you don't believe the ozone layers are getting tinner due to man made polutions, the temperature is not rising, the heat waves in Europe is just someone's imagination, the ice caps aren't melting (getting thicker according to you), and there's nothing wrong with medical system in states? Are you living in a fantasy world? Let's say the hottest day occured in 1934. What does that accomplish? A few days of hot weather in North America DOES NOT melt ice caps. What melts them are rising temperature around the world for extended period of time. I'll give you a better example. Take out an 2 ice cubes and put them on a table. Let one sit near a fire place for 5 seconds, 2nd one in a room temperature for 5 minutes. Can you tell me which one melted away? That's the analogy you're using with "hottest year in 1934" example. All I wanted to point out was that, France and Canada had good medical system, and it didn't need to cost so much for people to get help. I think states will never have free medical system cause of people like you. If no one sees any problem, then nothing will change. Next time you hear/see more ice caps melting in the news, are you going to accept the facts or just convince yourself that they're really getting thicker? |

After looking into the issue after watching the movie I found that many of his main points are more or less correct. It is Michael Moore so I take those dramatic examples with a grain of salt but our medical system is broken here. The insurance and pharmaceutical companies have far too much control over our current system. It needs to be fixed, if we don't switch to socialized medicine the government should put moderate price controls on medicine on the market. If you don't agree with this you also mine as well subscribe to the "I'm in denial and global warming isn't happening" theory. |

To say the movie is without bias means you're either ignorant or naive. Also if you look at history the earth heated up and cooled down mutiple times, there are scientists right now that are arguing that we are entering an ice age  My father has cancer and no insurance. As a family growing up we truly felt the pain of raising medical costs as he paid over $100,000 out of pocket to get chemo and bone marrow transplants (and several operations after that). I've seen him take pills that cost more than $100 a piece. But because we don't have socialized health care he got the treatment he paid for. He got immediate care instead of being put on a waiting list. Sure it's expensive, but he's alive. I have family in Canada and after paying out the azz in taxes, they get put on a waiting list for important surgeries and some people die before getting treated. There are arguements both ways, and again, we can all sit here and swap incorrect internet sources and facts, but think about this: will someone else actually change YOUR thoughts on it? If no, then why would you change theres? |

Silver Member Username: MrdarkPost Number: 245 Registered: Dec-04 | All I know is, I currently don't have insurance, and I had a seizure while driving and my girl had to take the wheel and drive me to emergency...They didn't do $hit but take my blood pressure and ask me some stupid "what's your name" type questions, told me I might have a brain tumor, and reccommended that I lie down on a gourney...well I lay there for 30 min or so and NOBODY, nurses, orderlys, doctors, NOBODY asked me how I was or what was wrong with me...So we left and the next day I scheduled a doctor's appointment, they took some blood, ran some tests, declared my blood to be normal and reccomended that I go in for MRI on my head. Which I did, they said that w/o insurance it would be about a G or so...I thought better safe than sorry. MRI was clean, took about 20 min. $2700 or so for the MRI, $487 for the blood/lab work, and $68 for the BS Emergency room visit. BUCK THE SYSTEM. |

It got worse as more immigrants from OTHER countries came here to get free care (they duplicate the health card). You have no idea how many illegal people cross the border to get free medical. Our stupid governements are too slow to catch them. This is why there are so many waiting lists. However, for most things you get help without paying thousands. For example, if you get shot, break a leg, get stabbed, pass out, etc all get medical attention without being filtered out based on income level. The ones that are going to the states for treatments are mostly the rich that want "extra" service. Who can blame them? If you had millions of dollars to burn, why would you settle for hospitals that "everyone" goes to? Anyway you look at it, I feel bad for you guys with no health insurance. I'd be afraid to get sick. Nick V, 2012 will be an interesting year, especially on Dec 21st! FYI, the world probably won't end, but it could be the beginning of something big? |
