I've never made a box for anything before and have done some research, I want to see if I'm on the right track.

What I have so far are some dimensions:

One of these for each sub: 12 x 8.46 x 16.9 comes out to about 1 cubic foot(I haven't calculated the volume of the sub yet and I will change my box size accordingly).

Then for the vent:
Diameter:1.935 inches
Length:3 inches
Tuning frequency: 40 htz

I found the box size by using a ratio I found (.7 x 1 x 1.4) that is supposed to produce the best results.

And I used a calculator (http://www.ajdesigner.com/phpsubwoofervented/port_length_equation_fb.php) to find the vent dimensions.

Let me know what you guys think and I don't mind constructive criticism(I'm not gonna kill myself if you guys think I'm stupid), and thanks in advance for the help.

"which sub uses 1cuft ported"

Idk what that meens, I've never done this before...I don't really know what I'm doing

One site said that 40 htz was a common tuning frequency.

post a link to ur sub

40hz is more like for pure loudness & u lose alot of musical quality especially for daily driving ....

this is the closest I can get to a "link" to my subs...the model number is XS-L1037 and I can't find anything for them anywhere. Sony must have taken them off of their site for some reason.

cant find any info too so u may have to go by generic box volumes on this occasion

if u got a 10" then most 10s use 1.5-1.7cuft
12" then 2-2.5cuft

http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31

tune below 35hz for more quality & above 35-40hz for more loudness with less quality .....

Yeah, I have 10's. Is the 1.5-1.7 ft^3 the box volume without the sub in it? Or would I have to add the sub volume to 1.5 ft^3 to get the box dimensions?
