I just purchased two RL-i 8" DVC 4-ohm subs. I am thinking about getting a Rockford t5001bd amp to power it unless someone has a better idea. Also, what would you guys recommend for a box? I can follow what's on the site, but I would be interested to know any other opinions as far as size and tuning. I was a good SQL ported box. Thanks guys

WTF my post went away. Well what I basically said is put them in a divided sealed box with .6 cubes for each. Also that RF amp only will put out 250 per which is not enough. Get this amp and wire the subs for a 1 ohm total load.

That amp puts out over 1000RMS on all the birth sheets I have seen. That is why I am considering it.

So, you think go with a sealed rather than ported?

Yes go .6 sealed, those 8's will blow your mind. Buy Mike's Sundown, it would be perfect.

Mike...I don't know what to tell you at the moment. I don't know if I want to spend $280 for an amp on this setup. I am trying to go a little cheaper, and that is why I picked out the Rockford. I will deffinitely keep that in mind. I know it's a great amp and great deal, I just don't know yet. Thanks man.

Anyone else have an opinion? Especially on the box? (Thanks Brad, BTW)

0.5 cu ft net volume sealed

0.3 cu ft net volume vented, Fb = 35 Hz

straight from their site. its weird how the ported box is smaller than the sealed. but thats what mike at soundsplinter wants so i would do it like that.

go sealed man. the output will surprise you.

the cool thing about it is if you don't like it sealed, you can make a hole and put a single aeroport in there. since the sealed box and the ported box are similiar. the port will take up some space in the box so your displacement will drop.

Good deal. With these subs then, output is pretty similar sealed and ported? Impressive.

OK, quick noob quest. Thinkin on runnin 2 FI Q's 12", off 2 Memphis 1000w amps, but might require alt upgrade, since I will be runnin the rest of the setup off a memphis a/b amp. 3 amps total!!! Is there a more efficient setup to get sick sql?

I am kinda leaning towards that only because I want to make sure they are loud enough.
