Magnets Up

I'm thinkin about building a box for my subs with the magnets up and the subs firing down. Do I have to do anything special? I'd make it sealed.

I'm thinking i'd double baffle it, one cut to the outside diameter of the gasket and the lower one cut to the outside diameter of the surround making sure even at full excursion theres no rubbing.

Any advice?

Some one once said to wire it out of phase when inverting...Other then that, sounds good.

Just remember not to include sub displacement in your design of course. Pics pics pics.

it's like the phase switch on crossovers. when your sub would move outwards wired in phase, it'll move inwards wired out of phase. but i think Brad's right. they both know a hell of a lot more than I do, but if you invert the sub, it will do the same thing as wiring it out of phase, so to correct this you would have to wire it out of phase. I'd like to hear their explanations though.

Nothing. I would factor in the displacement in the design so that if you don't like it you can just turn them around, it will tune a little lower with them inverted...JMHO..Polo.

Of course you wire the sub out of phase if the magnet is up. otherwise it will fire IN to the box. Gotta go to a party, have a fun 4th guys -- and drive safe.

I have had my sub inverted and normal and I have tried wiring them out of phase and normal and There really isnt a noticeable difference. I would say try it and see which way it sounds better.

i think if the subs were isobaric i think they call it then u would wire out of phase and one normal but this isnt the case. but i would wire them normal and if it comes down to it most pioneer decks have that invert subwoofer feature lol

Morons, lol. The only way you would need to wire them out of phase is due to cancellation. Now if you had mids that had a crossover range that blead into your subs upper level hz then ya but if not there would be no competition available, lmfao....... Damn Tards.... Polo...
