do i need to upgrade my charging system if i get a hifonics bxi 2006D with a 105 amp stock alternator? i have a audiobahn a8000t and have no voltage drop from 14.4v. i won't be playing at more than 2/3 volume for more than 20 minutes at a time

Yes you do need to upgrade your charging system. That amp will put out about 1800-2000 watts RMS and you will see voltage drop if you only have that stock alt.

all i have heard is that capacitors don't do anything but i found this on rockford's website. it says for musical applications a capacitor is the easiest most reliable upgrade.

^^Thats because they are just trying to sell more stuff. It doesnt help unless you have the electrical to back it up and then the help it does do is not very much. It is not possible to know how much voltage drop there will be, but I can guarantee that you will not see full potential out of that amp without an upgrade. Also you risk the chance of running a clipped signal to your subs. MMMM do I smell burnt coils.

Yes you need an HO alternator to run 2kw power.

James caroll apparently flunked elementary school and can't do the simple math necessary to know that its physically impossible to get 2500 watts from a stock alt
