Sorry man, but the MTX 8500 is a dam nice sub. The sound ALOT better than the L7.

We put out 8500 15" install on an mtx 800w amp heads up against an L7 15" w/ a memphis 1100w. the 8500 walked all over the L7. Sounded much better and was 2dB+ louder!

ha i know its just kinda funny......but i have another question. I was looking at ebay a while ago and i saw two 12" alpine type r's. It said 600watts rms(nothing wrong there) but then it said 1500 watts max(does that even make sense) wouldnt it be 1200 watts max? and even at that can subs really reach the max power without distortion or blowing? or is it just a marketing thing?

type R"s are 500rms and 1500max, max doesnt really mean anything, its a marketing thing, but type R's can well excede 500rms easily.

i really doubt both subs specifications call for a 4.25 cuft enclosur tuned to 36 HZ so im sure one of the subs had an advantage

I've had a 15" MTX 8500 which i got new for $260 no warranty. I compared it to a 15" Razor Audio sub which i got for $119 brand new warranty and although we couldn't meter it, to ear it kicked the sh!t out of the 8500...

so your saying then if Cannan is right that a Razor Audio sub that you can get for 119 new will sound louder than a MTX 8500 and a kicker L7
