I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe with a factory 8" subwoofer which performs quite poorly. I was going to spend $600 to replace it with a 10", but then got to thinking. What about just replacing the 8" with a better quality speaker?

What size amp is attached to the factory system?

Anyone had any luck with this?

I bet it's an amp that has very little power and wouldn't have enough power for much else, but you should find that amp (probably under a seat) and check it out. I can recommend TC sounds TC1000 8" woofer.

I think those sub's are 8ohm's. Your better of getting a aftermarket sub and amp.
