CVR is a good sub, I think alpine type R is in the price range. I just got some TC sounds tc-1000s, pretty good price. Another good choice is adire audio shiva.

I haven't put them in yet. I have a 2400W RMS amp, so probably wire it at 4ohms and give them 300W rms. Or I may wire them at 1ohm and give 1200W each, but turn the sub-out all the way down. I think 400W rms would be fine for them, as recommended. My friend does have the 12" comp VR's and they're like $75 shipped on eBay...hard to beat for that price. They don't need a lot of power...300W RMS each and I recommend you get a custom built ported enclosure for it(them), if you do get it. I'll be able to tell you how the TC sounds subs are in about 2-3 weeks.

Adire shiva is a good sub. I only heard good things about the TC subs, that's why I got them. I suppose I'd recommend tc-1000s to you as well.

What type of sound scheme are you trying to accomplish? I see you want to get really loud, but how about sound quality? What kind of power do you have available?

It's a lot of air to be moved to maintain high SQ. There was a thread about that earlier and that's my opinion as well.

" 4 subs will get sloppy "

BS flag on that one. SQ is about the frequency response and overall sound of the sub and enclosure. Doesn't matter how many subs there are.

haha BS flag it all you want. I've heard 4 subs before and then just 2 of them. 4 was incredibly loud, but it lost a bit of clarity in the process. 2 wasn't as loud, but maintained most of the musicality and clarity. I doubt you can tell me my ears are wrong, but you can voice your opinion without hating on mine.

At high volume, the bass notes pretty much all blended together without much definition with each specific frequency. With 2, the difference between notes was much clearer. So I'm saying, MY PERSNOAL CHOICE would be to stick with 2 subs if I was looking for purely SQ.
