i just got done listening to my subs and i was wondering if its normal for the dustcap to get warm, not hot, but warm the cone nor the surround is warm so i was wondering what signs should i look for to see if the sub has reached full potential, i know what it sounds like but i was wandering what the aftermath should look like? and if the coil is starting to smell is that an indicator?

i think i was feeding each sub about 800 or 900 RMS for 10 second intervals because my alt cant handle that much power

you dont want to smell your VC
leave it at that....
if you do smell it turn it off and let your subs cool.

Yeah. I would almost 100% its the glue if you say it only smells by the box and smells like rubber.
