a farad is the unit of measure for capacitance. 1 farad is equal to 1 coulomb of charge at 1V. So a 1F capacitor operating at 14v can store 14 coulombs of charge.

More importantly, a coulomb is equal to 1 amp per second. So 14C = 14A/sec.

So if you have, for example a 100A stereo system that 1F cap will buy you less than .2 sec.

IMO the only people they benefit are the ones selling them, but others swear by them, so...
to each their own.

I am using 2 caps. 1 is 1 fared, the other is 1.5 fared. My alt is 140amp, Im running 6 amps, 3 sets of Christmas lights off a inverter, and I have no dimming. I never ran with out the caps so Im not sure if they are helping or not, But I like the look, and Im sure the dont hurt it none.
Most recommand 1 farred per 1000 watts.

Now when you recomend the HC bats do you mean as an addition or as a replacement for the stock?

i dont know if id run them with a stock battery, unless you use an isolator.

id email kinetik to see if they can be ran with a normal starting bat.

What were you trying to say?
If you replace the stock battery with a HC, then you dont need a cap?
or get an additional HC (and keep the stock battery under the hood for starting car ect.) and place the HC near the amps to draw power from.? like the battery would be the cap.

ok well you shouldnt mix battery types. so if you have a normal stock starting battery you could either get a battery isolator and put the kinetik in the back by your amps, or replace your starting battery with one, but for it to act like a cap is needs to be close to your amps.

honestly i dont know about running a HC with your starter batt. in parallel without an isolator.

most people say dont mix battery types and stuff like that, but you might be able to im not sure thats why id email kinetik
