Trying to set my gain!!! help

ok im trying to set my gains and its not working out.. i put in a 50hz test tone then went to set my gains and i cant get my target voltage of 37.4volts. if i turn my bass boost on i can get it but ive heard not to do that. will i be alright to turn my bass boost up so i can get my target voltage?

what do you mean you can't get to 37? like you're turning the gain and you reach the highest it gets before reaching 37?

correct... the gain can b all the way up and it still wont go to 37.4 it only goes to like 20

what ohm load is it? you have a kx1200.1 right?

he does.. i told him how to set the gain :-) ... i was boggled when that amp only put out like 20volts with the gain all the way up..

now you should not have to use bassboost to increase voltage.. if so that amp is really wack. only thing i can think is maybe the amps input voltage is too high for your h/u preouts .. not sensative enough for low voltage. a linedriver would fix that but you said you don't have money so...
