How do you "flare" a slot ported box to keep it from having port noise? Also, does anyone know where you can buy box carpet that isn't the standard black or grey? Maybe some with graffix on it or just something different?

Mat Dope gave me a box design that I am going to use. I had another thread earlier that was titled "Can someone help" This is the first ported box that I have ever made so I was just making sure I wouldn't get any port noise.

use a router to round the edge of the port.. also you can use quarter roud of something similar for the corner

round all edges of the port and make sure you have at least 12sq inches of port per cuft.

~16sqinches per cuft will do better.

Its been awhile since college. To get the sq inches of the port is width x height or width x length. Sorry for the stupid question. measurments of the port is 4" width x 12.5" tall x 14.75" length. It is a 2 cube box. Does this sound right? Its for 2 12" assassins.

do you mean the box is 4cuft? (2cuft per sub)

u measure the opening the port creates...
4" x 12.5" = 50sq inches

50sq inch / 4cuft = 12.5sqin/cuft

That box doesnt sound right though...4cuft w/ 50sq in port 14.75" long would tune to ~40hz. I would tune those 12's to ~35hz for daily.

Here is the box that I got from Mat. Does this look right to you? The AA website says 2cf and tuned to 32hz for the assassins.
