What I'm asking is, can I keep my stock alternator to run my car accessories, and get a HO alternator on a bracket to run my sound system? Anyone ever heard of this done. I can't see why not is the main reason.

you can do that with no problem if you have the space for the extra alternator and battery.

It would prolly be more costly in cash and time than just paying for a single HO alt to run everything.I would shell out the money and get the lifetime warranty on a HO alt from Iraggi.

Brackets are not expensive to have even fabricated. A local shop (Infinite Velocity Motorsports) can build me a bracket for my 1999 Firebird for under $200. And assuming that a single HO alt is enough to run his vehicle, and his system, is a silly assumption. A single Orion 2500D etc can use up a HO alt all by itself very easily, especially if it's a small case.

Ok what do you think. 1 HO alt anywhere from 220A to 300A, I like the lower outputs bc they give higher outputs at idle, but consider two odyssey 2150S batteries. (its like having 4 yellow tops). You think 220A's would be fine? consider the batteries.

A bracket for $200 isnt so bad - when you consider there isnt one pre-made for my car/engine size. It needs to be custom fabricated.

not bad expecially for a newer car. i've made brackets for some 60's model cars i've worked on, they are easy. new stuff can be a huge pain in the a-s.

It's not about custom made brackets, but mostly space in newer cars. There's not even enough room for your arm to go in to get anything out under the hood nowdays.
The old cars from the 80's were the best. You can easily install anything, even have room for you to stick your head inside too.
