Home theartre question will this work

ok now i have my home theartre sub and it isnt a rca one its a speaker conecter one can i hook the 2 channel rca cablesfrom my dvd player into the input of the receiver and hook a rca cable from the sub out to the other rca input on the receiver and hook my sub up to the speaker outs so i get just bass

ps i posted this in subwoofers instead of home theartre coz u guys respond quicker thanks !

so lemme get this strait .. your home subwoofer is not powered by its own dedicated amp. it just has a pos a neg connection from the box? and your wanting to power it with your reciever?.. i could not understand anything else you were trying to say. but if thats the case it will only work properly if your reciever has a built in crossover otherwise you will need an external.. easier to just buy an amplifier for the sub which will accept an rca
