I am new hear and see amps specrs usually have (14.4) next to the rms ratings. Others have 12. something afterwards. How do I know which one I got and if it is not 14.4, how do make it so it is?

its just how much voltage they take to produce their rms. some amps are rated at 12.5 (voltage of a battery) and others 14.4 (voltage your alt. puts out at full power) and MA audio rates their stuff at 17 volts...because their idiots. it doesnt really matter what you choose just pick an amp that does a little more rms then you need

Most amps will put out the same amount of power whether the specs are rated at 12V or 14.4V. They have regulated power supplies (PWM) so the voltage doesn't matter.
