alright guys... ive been wanting to get 4 15" SSis for a month or so now so its about time to make the final decision...heres the choices
4 15" SSis ported box (pretty much a wall)at 38hz 1 18" SSx ported 38hz 2 15" Soundstream SPLXs ported at 35 or 38hz 4 15" MMats P 3.0s in wall/box at 35hz
this is going in an 03 mercury mountaineer that has enough room for 15cuft give or take...
amps-2 ED nine.1s at 1ohm (2500-3000rms)
upgraded alt and batteries of course, so dont worry about that.
the biggest dimensions i wanna go are... width-46" hight-17" depht-34"
which is 13cuft but i also have room where the 3rd row seats foot room used to be so i could go as high as 24 inches if i really need it in the back...see diagram below
i would rather not use the area in red...but then again i doubt ill need a box bigger than 10-12cuft. its just nice to know i have it.
4 arsenals would cost $640 plus shipping, but that's there preorder special prices. if you want those you should try and order quick before there prices go back up.
Jake Papa its in your heart to get the 4 SSI and port them low.. u know it..
A I like the 18 idea.. it can take that power, but the 4 SSI can use their motor strengths together... I listen to a 4 TSX setup almost everyday, and as u know its still the loudest thing around here period! so if u do the 4 SSIs, with that power, you will be a STREET KING in your neck of the woods for a long time!!!! the port frequency is almost perfect, 36-38hz... Make it lots of port area like 80sq inches per sub... so like 160sq" of port... ITS A WRAP!
hope u are ready to be rocked out of the suv...
B
1 18 SSX with 6000rms... LORD.... the 1 sub setup in the suv, Ill give it about 10cubes, with like 200sq" of port... HMMMMM
^^^ u risk the suv fallin apart...
so thats my 2 choices... the 4 15s will prob give more of the WOW factor look... in a nice big box..
ok B the box i have designed right now has 144sq inches of port at almost 38hz. after displacement and all that the box is 8.35cubic feet firing up with the slot ports firing back. its leaving me 4 inches from the end of the box to the trunck so theres enough room for the ports to breath. double thick MDF on top and maybe the side with the ports, not sure yet. its getting professionally done because im doing alot of vinyl and color matching. july 1 is the date it will all be in buy...hopefully.
that sounds good man, and 4" back from tailgate is known to make the suv ring like a bell... u going to need those double thick mdf, especially on top baffle.. 153db is right on mark what it should be at, im saying 150 atleast with halfway install (batteries)... going to need some pics and scores when u finish, keep us posted...
