Can changing from 8 gauge to 4 gauge going from my cap to my amp somehow cause clipping or distortion? Or using a shorter piece of cable than before, I replace my cable with some 4ga. and it seems to sound different..

depends on the amp and the subs... if the amp isn't made for that type of current then yea

I don't think it would matter on the amp, the amp would only draw what it needs, wouldn't it? or could it overload the amp with power, which sounds kinda nuts.. lmao

well that could be it too, and its giving the subs too much which makes them bottom out and sound like SH!T

like before with the 8 they were getting a little less and then witht the 4 the amp is actually powering them and they subs can't handle that power

i guess go back to the 8 gauge if it sounds better. thats what i would do leave all technicalities behind when it comes to this situation

Nah, i'm throwin out the sub tonight and ordering a Type-R so it'll handle the increase in power... Lade gave me 4 extra inches of cable, at $1.30 a foot, and 75 cents for the eyelet connecter, i'll keep my 4 gauge and turn the gain down.. Bump!
