I just bought 3 Rockford Fosgate 10" Stage 2 Punch. They are each 8 ohm single voice coil and 200 watt rms. do i need a 600 watt rms amp or only a 200 watt rms amp. i was told i needed a 600 watt amp but i am not sure??

thanks

well with those subs you can wire them down to a 2.67 load. Honestly the JL 500/1 would be a great amp for you. also a kicker 600.1.

yes something that is underrated a tad such as the amps I mentioned would be better. You are not going to get quite 600 watts out of a amp that is 600 watts x 1 at 2ohms being your nominal impedence will be 2.66 ohms, it will be a tad lower. I recomend the jl and kicker for 2 different reasons. The JL is 500 watts(underrated) at 1.5ohms-4ohms it is a regulated power supply meaning it does not fluctuate with difference in voltage input or lower impedence's. Now the kicker 600.1 is rated at 600 watts at 2ohms at 12 volts, now this is a unregulated power supply which will gain power with the more voltage that is supplied. so at 2.66 on the jl and kicker you will see pretty close to 600 out og both of them.

neither will work well for you! look into the P6001bd if you insist on staying with RF, but for the price you can get better!

Phoenix gold xenon 600.1 - does 600wrms in the range of 1-4ohms so u get the same output regardless of ohm load ........

gfnixcbnl....that radio will never see that power and it will be distorted power at best. You will need a 1ohm mono amp that does around 600-1000w, and prob need a 4 channel for a cleaner sound on internal speakers

i was just told that i only need a 200watt rms amp to push all 3 10's. he said that a 200 watt rms amp will push 200 watts to each sub. is that right??

with a 600 watt rms amp will it push 200 watts to each sub or 600 to each sub

i don't want to blow these subs as i just invested about $250 in them.

A 600 watt rms amp will push 200 to each sub, but it'll get tricky cause of that 2.67 impendence, listen to James he understands it better than me. (i wish amps pushed their rating to each speaker :-))

If you have a 600w amp, unless it is rated at a normal voltage, the amp will not put out what it says, Example, most amps are rated at 14.8 volts, alos the ohm load that you have it is going to be real difficult to get 600w out of it. You need an amp that is stable at 1-4ohms and at 11.5-14.8volts, like the JL or the Pheonix gold xeon.
