It says on a sub that it uses 4 ohm. Is it possible for a sub with 4 ohm use 2 ohm and would be the difference?

INFINITY KAPPA PERFECT10.1D 10"
Power Handling, RMS: 350W
Impedance: 4 Ohm DVC

Now the amp I wanted to buy is 700WRMS @ 2 Ohm, and 350WRMS @ 4 Ohm

So I was asking if the sub could run at 2 Ohm instead of 4 Ohm. And if it can then what would be the difference?

it's a dual voice coil, so it should run at 2 ohms automatically.

probably just stupid. but i was taught that 2 4ohm voice coils means divide the ohm load by 2 and that's what they're running at.

This is annoying and funny at the same time. Unregistered guests are the idiots.

Ok...I think I got it. Getting some flashback from high school phisics class on resistance.
Basically if I get 2 350WRMS 4 Ohm subs and connect them in parallel, then I'll be able to use 700 WRMS amp at 2 Ohm, right?

All your questions answered! Just fool around with different configs.

Thanks James...very good tool. But here's another question. Is there difference in quality b/w 1 Ohm load and 4 Ohm load?

no real audible differences ...

however amps that put out alot of power @ 4 ohms are very expensive when compared to amps that do it @ 2 or 4ohms ......
