Ok, now that I think I found the prob with the amp, would it be wise to get a new alternator? Mine has 90 amps supporting A/C (mechanical).
TIA

larger alternator never hurt.
a 200A model would allow you to run around 1200 watts of amplification at full output in addition to the full needs of the car itself. Possibly a bit more than that even.. you could probably go up to as much as 1600wRMS or so since most people never play a system at full volume anyway.

Wow!!! Does that mean that my 90 amps alternator ain't enough to feed my 540W amp?
TIA!

might be. might not be.
depends how much of that 540 watts you're actually using, and how much reserve teh alternator has when the car is running.
if voltage drops, you need a larger alternator.
if all ya have is 540W total, a 150A alternator would be plenty.
130A may even do the job just fine at full output from the system

Well the voltage doesn't drop, but the 1-month old regulator is starting to go... Light on at 6000 rpm, then 5000 rpm, and now at 3500 rpm... Yep, you're right, thanks!
Cya!
