i have a 15 " type r... 4 ohm dvc
would a 2 channel amp that does 450 watts x 2 at 2 ohms be able to power it if i hooked each channel up to a coil?

yes it will work but you'll only be putting out 225w x per voice coil @ 4ohms. and it's usually not a good idea to hook up stereo channels to a sub.

the best way to go is get a mono amp rated at 2 ohms to whatever your sub can handle.

uh judging from
"a 2 channel amp that does 450 watts x 2 at 2 ohms "

i think he meant 450 in each channel but did not say it that was WRMS or MAX .

current model of 15" type R is 750 wrms so if his w are rms it can work but being carefull with the vol control .....
