1600 watts RMS, your gunna need to send them at least 800 wrms. The XBL^2 motor topology is very inefficient, thus requiring quite a bit of power.

untrue, the Adire Brahma, which is the first sub to have the technology if i'm not mistaken, only needs 600wRMS to reach potential.:-O

the XXX's motor was tweaked to have even more SQ, but that made it inefficient, so the need for more power was presented.

haha, screwed up my username. lol

anyway, i'm not sure if it was the Brahma in particular, but the owner of Adire, Dan Wiggins, created this technology.

unfortunately, the two subs i would recommend are unavailable at this time.
the Adire Brahma, and the Ascendant Audio Avalanche.

you could try the IDMAX, or uhhhhhh, a SoundSplinter Rl-p.

You could utilize that motor topology on a smaller power handling sub as well too. RE could fabricate the XBL^2 on the RE12 and it could still be 150wRMS, which is way less than the RE XXX.

However, A speaker doesnt need every bit of its RMS rating of power to reach its full mechanical potential. So what i was saying is that the XBL^2 motor topology needs more of that RMS power to reach full excursion than say a motor that has an overhung or underhung design.

So the RE XXX is 1600 wRMS, howerver it might only need 1000wRMS to reach peak excursion.

If the RE XXX didnt use the XBL^2 technology it could still be rated for 1600wRMS, but it might only need say 800wRMS to reach peak excursion.

I was referring to motor design vs power consumption. not comparing sub to sub.

It might have come out wrong, but i think you get my point. do you agree with me now

"anyway, i'm not sure if it was the Brahma in particular, but the owner of Adire, Dan Wiggins, created this technology."

Dr David Hyre aided in its development as well. He doesn't get enough credit, had to mention it :-)

XBL^2 is in the middle of overhung and underhung. Underhung is terribly inefficient, overhung tends to be more efficient.

no, you need at least 1000wRMS. i wouldn't give it any less than 1200wRMS.
