it must be your box.

could be ...
- a better box
- didnt tune amp correctly
- not using the right ohm
- cheap cables not supplying enough current
- configuration on head units
- type of car (like hatchbacks tend to be the loudest cause it doenst have a consealed trunk)

First off the two kickers will most likely be louder than one alpine...expecially if he has the T3002 amp...ive heard the kickers sound pretty good (for kickers) in a car before but it all depends on the box...i also agree with robert and the list of things things he posted.

then yea u dynamat helps alot but u need couple of layers and also try to locate what rattles and see if you can put something under or over or take stuff away to help with the rattling
in my car it was a couple of metal screws hittin the chasis of the car on the back dashboard

What kind of car you got?

The rear of a hatch back has quite a bit of natural gain in itself.

i would suggest getting eDead...just as good but cheaper..and to answer your question dynamat does tend to make the bass louder since your containing the music inside of the car and not letting it escape outside
