Hi,

I have been installing (trying) a sound system on my boat. I have 4 clarion 100W speakers, a Bazooka 200 W passive woofer, and using a clarion APX480M 4 channel (4X120)amp. Everything has been fine until I decided to get the woofer...I really cannot figure out how to wire it for the best performance....what I did was to wire the 2 left speakers in parallel on one channel and the same for the right....and then hooked the woofer to a single channel (should I bridge it??). I figured that way I could filter the speakers and the subwoofer individually (there are built in high/low pass filters). But a fellow boater just pointed out that wiring the speakers in parallel increases the power output and I could potentially damage the speakers............any suggestions how to do the wiring ????

only use your 4 channel amp for your 4 spekers. i'd get a seperate amp for the sub. (well if you want max output for all yor speakers)

im guessing you have 4 ohm speakers since yer amp hasnt gone to poo. when you wire 4 ohm speakers in parallel, you get a total 2 ohm load, which yes will "increase" power output, however, the new higher power will now be divided (shared) by both speakers).

anyways, just get a seperate amp for the sub.
