Very same question has been posted about 5 times this wk by different ppl - but we will be nice to ya !
I myself am searching the wb & that MB Quart from crutchfield would currently be the best deal on @ this time overall . Its usually a $100 more

Directed also has a 1200wrms @ $329 which i asked Glass about & he said that company is good too . Either choice will fit the bill .

I will NEVER buy ANY electric item refurb/used - u just do not know wtf passed through that item . Nothing beats new stuff .

My personal motto is - the only things ppl should ever buy refurbished/used or used are a 1st owner car & a house , cause thats the 2 most expensive necessary items & sometime $ is just not available on hand for a new 1 .

These 2 sites are about the lowest online retailers u can find www.discountsjungle.com + www.onlinecarstereo.com .
www.sonicelectronix.com is good too . I don't trust ebay .

Refurb is one thing, but come on...never buy used? That's a little extreme don't you think.

Buying used doesn't have to mean you're buying junk, nor does it have to mean you're being cheap. Some of the best stuff out there (not just audio equipment), are things that aren't made anymore. You just need to know what you're looking for and shop smart.

Case and point...Alpine CDA-9835 vs. CDA-9855. Clear distinction in quality and customer satisfaction. I'd buy a used 9835 for $350 before I'd buy the new 9855 for less.

If cosmetics are not your #1 concern, and you can find something used or open box, that is a good percentage less expensive than the brand new equivelent...then it just doesn't make sense not to consider the used item.

As far as ebay is concerened, I think ebay has a good self policing system. If a vendor has less than 98-99% satisfaction rating, then buy from someone else. It's pretty simple. If there's a vendor who's sold over 2500 items on ebay and has 7 unhappy constomers in 2 years, then I'm still willing to consider buying from them. It's the knuckleheads with 94% positive feedback who clearly have a pattern of unhappy constomers which you must watch out for.

People with money don't get their by not spending wisely.

Refurbed items are not recommended, but used items are fine with me. I got a used SOundstream Reference 500 amp on eBay. Absolutely beautiful piece of American machinery. Older PPI stuff, such as Art Series PC/PCX stuff is better than their new crap.

I agree completely with Allende.

Of course I fully well know older stuff was made better , my point is unless u personally know the guy who has it & if in good condition then chance it . U can hardly find older stuff in reasonable condition though . Heck i got a Pioneer deck & Pioneer GM 120 Amp thats made in 1982 & still runs good .

Buying it from a stranger, u never know what kinda abuse or repairs that it went through .

Fine by me if anybody was a used item but these days personally i still prefer new .
