I know that everyone on here frowns upon capacitors. What I wanted to know is if they do any good whatsoever. I undertsand they do not take the place of a HO alternator. My question is if i'm only running about 1200 watts RMS would it make a difference whether I had the Cap in at all or would there be a bigger problem and strain on the alt. I have an Optiama Red top battery and and a 1.2 farad capacitor and right now my lights do not dim at all w/ a rockford fosgate bd1001 amp(I plan on adding an amp for mids and highs later). I also have a ps2, a 7" flip down screen and a viper remote start alarm and i have not had any electrical problems whatsoever Is the capapcitor helping any?

There's already another thread on here on capacitor. It should have the answers you're looking for including GW's post.
Capacitors are not bad. It's usefulness will depend on how's applied.

Ok thanks guys I'll think I'll be fine I don't expect my capapcitor to act as Ho alt. If I ever have any electrical problems then i'll get a HO alt.
