Why is my sub clipping?

i bought a sub and got some guy to put it in my truck.when i put it up a bit i hear a high pich noise..is that called clipping and how do i stop it?...could anyone help me!!!

i'd say your amp gains are too high.. turn your amp down till the noise no longer occurs.. amp clipping is an easy way to blow a sub..

how do i set my gains..their is only two settings..and one turns up/down the level on my amp and the other one i dont have a clue...

my amp is a kenwood KAC-8101D,its a 1000w digital amp...

turn down the level of ur amp..

the only ones that i can turn are input sensitivity and frequency...

and i was on a site last night and it said if the amp doesnt get enough power to back it up the amp would clip..could that be happening????
