I am purchasing 2 alpine type-r 12" subs. rms 500w.
I need an amp to power them for the best possible spl. I am considering:
Alpine mdr-m1005
JBL GTO1201.1
Earthquake PHD2000w
Hifonics Brutus 2500D
Soundstream edge eda1700d
which would be the best match for these subs?
if you have any other suggestions for less than 400 (ebay price) i would appreciate it. thanks for the help

either the alpine of JBL, that hifonics is wayyy to much power for it, you could look into companies such as-
kicker
JL
Zapco
Orion
Xtant
MTX
RF and just match up the wattages and you should be fine

Have not bought them yet. I can get either 2 or 4 ohms depending on the amp I decide on and if it's a mono or 2 channel. Is there a reason to get one or the other ohmage and better for two subs with a mono amp or 2 channel?

get the dual 2 ohm model so you can get a 2 ohm stable amp. Look at MTX jbl bp1200.1, kicker kx1200.1 or RF bd1000.
