I have a 1999 Saturn SL1. And I want to put a 1500 watt amplifer in my car. I have a capacitor. I am told I need a high powered alternator to charge my capacitor. Can a high powered alternator cause problems with my engine, electrical system, or anything else with my car? My H/O alternator that I'm considering is 65 amps at engine idle, and 180 amps at 1600 rpm.

No a Ho alternator won't cause any problems with your engine or electrical system. Its a good idea to upgrade the big 3 when you get a new alternator.
