I am seriously looking to buy the 9833 but does it's AM reception suck as bad as most Alpine HU's?
My CDA-9827 is really bad for AM and the amount of text that scrolls is limited.

I was hoping these 2 issues might be resolved with the 9833.
Also, the 50 seires is getting a bad rap so I am shying away. Any thought on those?

i have the 9833 and absolutely luv it. But i'm sorry i can't comment much on it's AM reception quality as I use FM most of d time. However the 9833 has a feature for the Tuner section which enhances the quality in 3 modes, Normal, Hi-Fi and Stable.

Just popped down to my car and listen to the AM station and it sounds fine.

I stayed away from the 05' models after seeing the comments and reviews most ppl had with them.

U can have a listen to d Pioneer range and Clarions. But in the looks dept., Alpine takes the flag. Having said that, do shop around as it's your $$ and unless d 9833 are going off ridiculously cheap.

Thanks for the reply.

My AM station reception is terrible in my 9827. I have heard that is an Alpine issue.

I am leaning towards getting a 9833 and not another brand because I have a SIR-ALP1 adapter for my Sat Radio.

Thanks again
