I am building a box for SPL in my Escort. The box will hold 2 Jensen XS1010's and be powered by a Dual 460 watt amp.The box measures 24x36x12 and the port is 6.5x4.5x12,the braces are in such a position to prevent standing waves and act as kind of a guide for the air to the port.Does anybody see any problems, besides using Jensen and Dual???PS The subs and amp will eventually be replace with DD3510's and an Audiobahn2300HC.

Braces are good things to have in a box, especially when you plan on bumpin it at high spl's and low frequencies.

But,

Building a box with this design may act as a transmission line or labyrinth enclosure. You may want to look into what those enclosures pro's and con's are. Your box may boom louder at the frequency that the labyrinth or transmission line enclosures will promote. In other words it may sound out of tune, unless you design it right.

Over all it will work if you have the air space for the subs. I like a divider in the middle of boxes. Each sub has it's own air space. This way if one sub goes out the other still has the air space it need. Without the middle divider if one sub goes out the other has to much air space.

If you look at the box,the braces arent connected anywhere,so its not really a port, would that still tune it different??The box is going to be for SPL comps only,no SQ is desired.I also haver another box design that is a dual chamber Transmission Line,Ill Post that one asap for you guys to look over.Thanx for the replies.

Donald has a good point. Separate the drivers, each in its own chamber. That will elliminate loss to the remainding woofer if one goes out. You would need another port and you will need to change the way you want the air to travel. After making these adjustments you may find yourself with a transmission line afterall.

Heres a pic of the transmission line box,do you guys think this one would sound better??The dimensions would stay the same, except the openings would be 5x12-6x12.If I remember right the opening is supposed to equal the driver in sq inches,6x12 would be 72 and a 10" is 78,would thta be close enough?
