is there any difference in sound between a 2ohm sub and a 4ohm sub?

if the amp can take both, which is more recommended?

2 ohms will give you more power from you're amp. An amp might put out 400 watts rms at 4 ohms, but wired at 2 ohms, it will put out 800 watts rms. Ohms doesn't really effect the way the sub sounds.

ok cos im planning on getting a jl slash 1000.1 and it says it can take 2ohm or 4ohm.

so if i get 2 500W subs (either alpine type r or kicker cvr), would it be better of getting a 2ohm or 4ohm?

is they are single voice coil then you can get either.... just make sure both are the same. if you had two 2 ohm subs you would wire them into 4ohms... if you had two 4ohm subs you would wire them into 2 ohms....

Jl amps put out 1000 watts rms at 11V to 14V, and from 1.5 ohms to 4 ohms. It doesn't really matter what ohms they are. I'd go with the 2 ohm though... no real reason.

If they can handle 500 watts rms... then there the new ones. I like them a lot... that should sound sweet!
