Currently, i have two alpine type e's hooked up to an alpine amp that is 600 watt at 2 ohms. I am thinking of evenually upgrading to just one sub that hits louder. I was thinking about the SPLX-12. I no it's very spendy but eventualy i could come up with the money. So, basically i just want to know if this sub will be a good upgrade and if my amp will power it well. Thanks
i have them in a sealed box that i made myself. I'm thinking i should have baught a ported but hella ppl i talked to said that sealed is the way to go if u listen to rap.
if you want a good box for them do 5.4 cf internal and put 6.25 pounds of fiberfill in and port it to 36 hz with two 4 inch pvc ports 5 inches deep....that will crush your sealed box you have now if you went 1.25 sealed (im guessing you did)
Is there a way to make my sealed box into a ported by adding thoughs things above? What does the 5.4 channel and the 36 hz mean? Sorry im new and this is my first system.
Is this like a really dumb question or something??

5.4cf is the internal volume in cubic feet. no you cant change your sealed box to ported because I'm sure it isnt big enough. and you tune a ported box, you cant tune a sealed box.
