hey i have a quick question,i have 2 400 watt "6x9" three way triaxial speakers and a 4 channel by 40 watts cd player do i need an amp?or will the speakers work but not as well as they would with an amp?
Speakers will always sound better running off an external amp. I can pretty much tell you've got cheaper speakers though, if they say 400W max 6x9s. I would just run them off my HU because they're probably 40W RMS speakers if that. Remember that just about any external amp is going to run cleaner and have a higher RMS Wattage then any HU. Your HU probably runs about 19W RMS.
