My KX550.2 amp keeps overheating! I have it hooked up to a Kicker L7 15 and it's running off of a Pioneer DEH-P6700 (I believe) deck. I think I have the gain up too much or something. Any suggestions?

First make sure you have that 15 wired to present a 4 ohm load bridged. I hope you have the 2 ohm DVC model with the voice coils wired in series. If not thats your problem.

Otherwise turn the gains down.

what Fishy said, or if you have the amp where it can't get good air flow, summer can cause problems to amps under seats and such

I have a 4 gauge wire, but how do I know if it's bridged, or if I have the 2 ohm DVC model? Also, does my amp have enough power to push the 15 or is it lacking? Would that make it overheat?

Also, what can I do to make my Kicker KX550.2 amp push the 15 inch L7 the best? What kind of wiring?
