i have a ported sub box and i was wondering how the hell to get it to be not as boomy. its asif it has no tone at all. Its a premade box and its meant to be properly tuned. do i have to fiddle with the crossovers on my amp?

Can you just jam the ported hole with somthing? lol

i think u can try a few tricks:
1) yeah, jam a properly cut 4" deep sponge into it.
2) line another layer of that polystyrene foam material inside the sub box.
3) tune your Hz frequency on your amp. My guess is you are running below that 50Hz. Need to increase that to probably 80Hz. Ohh..reduce your bass gain too, 1/3 way is good to start with.

A sealed box is generally better for accurate and tight bass reproduction.

have fun mate
