i have a alpine type r the new one 500 watts rms i have it hooked up to a a8000t this sub sounds great but it moves soooooo much and im scared i might be giving it too much power any suggestions
every subwoofer has its own specifications on its x max which is roughly the movement of the cone. if you are over powering the sub u will easily hear distortion which is a fair assumtion that u will damage it. check rms specs for the amp and sub as well.
If it's moving a lot, but sounds fine then your ok. If your reaching over-excursion you'll hear a clank sub moves too far. You'll also notice a lot of distortion.
