Ok, Im ordering my subs today. Im getting 2 12" Alpine SWR-1221D DVC 2Ohm subs. Ive got an Audiobahn A8000T 800rms watt x 1 @ 2Ohms mono amp. The only thing Im unsure of is the box. I know sealed is for SQ, and Ported is for SPL, but Im not into compitition. I want low deep bass thats heard far away. If I go ported, would that be the right choice for listening to Rap with loud bass? I got about 40" in length, 32" in depth for the box. What box should I get? And if anyone sees any problems with this setup, please share because this is my first system. Thanks.

what type of music do you listen to?
I would recommend ported for rap music.
go to http://www.diysubwoofers.org/
read what they have to say, and make a decision on your own.

prefab sealed are good because it is harder to make an error in the calculations. All you have to do is match it to the reccomended seal volume. For your Alpine it would either be a .75 or 1.0 sealed. Or a .75 to 1.75 ported. When it is ported, you have to make sure the port diameter and length into the box meet the manufacture reccommended specs. Alpine doesnt have any specs on that, so just tune it to a frequencey from the12volt.com

if alpine has specs, then why arent they on the website. they need to put them on their website. that looks like a good box, but it is way too big for those subs. 2.5 cu ft per sub, when the max is 1.75. i recomend dont get it. this is a good box: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-DnsVpLwHC2j/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=178650&I=044H121 2DE
that is what your looking for, just a bit too expensive...

ok thx. I'll try and look for somthing similar to that but less expensive. And what is that tuned to? And what should I have my box tuned to? I know I want it lower than 40, im not into SPL compititions. Anyone else know anything?
