alright, I would not say that I am a novice in the world of car audio but I would not say that I am an expert either. I run 2 12" subs so that is all I have had to worry about. But I am always complaining that while the bass is good and deep, I wish it would be more of a loud punch or knock, if you know what I mean. Now to my question. Would a 10" sub produce more of a punch or knock as opposed to the deep low rumbling bass a 12 makes? I have heard some people say that this is true and others say that the bass is the same just not as good from a 10. All I know is I want the kind of bass that feels like someone is hitting you in the back. Ya'll knowwhat I mean? Any input would be great, thanks.

10's tend to be more punch then 12's but if you get a good sub a 12 will be just as punchy and deeper as well.

Now day's, there isn't a lot of diference in the 10's or 12's. Personally, I like the way 12's sound though. 10's could be a little bit punchy, but not a whole lot.
