Ok, I get the sound wave of the sub is longer than that of higher frequencies, but how is it that you can mount a sub in a box, facing down, under the rear seat and come up with loud explosive bass, but your mids & highs have to be almost line of sight to hear them properly?

And is this why car dimensions can have such an affect on the performance?

its sine waves, and frequencies...the higher the frequency the shorter the wavelength, and the higher chance it will be absorbed by panels, seats, clothes, dash, etc...in the car

a sub also obtains cabin gain which is the amplification of teh sine wave given certain parameters of a car (cabin)'

yes, a SUV with all coupled airspace will have much louder and quicker response than a couple with a trunk
