you never want to use a spacer when installing subwoofers, you are going to have to buy a new box. (typically) you have to buy a box that has about 3" of clearance from the magnet to the back of the box

Why wouldn't you want to use a spacer on a sub?

I know some people that use spacers on there sub boxes. And they seem fine, as long as you properly do it. And make sure it doesnt flex or anything.

if you dont use a spacer try sanding out a grove where the magnet would go. as long as you dont get carryed away it should work fine. but if the box is that small you might consider a bigger box
