It's a single voice coil, 12". What size sealed box would be the best for this sub? Going for spl, and good sq.

subzone makes good boxes, also www.bigdogcaraudio.com
Around 1.0 cu ft gross works well, there are tons of 12" boxes in that range.

Well, the box is for a friend actually, and despite my telling him not to, he went ahead and ordered a q-logic before hearing back from some1 on this forum. He got one that was 1.75 c.f. I thought it sounded too big, but he insisted it wasn't. His money I guess. Will this sound ok, or should he definitely try to sell it once he gets it, unless there is something he can do to the box to reduce the cf, like adding wood inside or something.

It will work ok, those subs are made for smaller boxes, though. Response may be kinda boomy, as well as less controlled. He can try it and see if he likes it.

OK, thanks Jon. It wasn't really super expensive, he could easily get something different if it doesn't sound good. I'm just dying to hear it, the eclipse has been sitting in his room for about 5 months now.
