Current draw from an amp?

say if you are driving and you have ur music off - volume 0 ...is the amp drawing any current from the alternator?

also if my amps are going to be drawing 155 amps max from the alternator would you guys suggest going with a 200 amp or a 230
my stock one is abvout 70 amps
i may add a speaker amp in the future

go with the larger alternator if you plan to add more power later.

if the radio is on but at 0 volume, yes the amplifiers will still draw some current due to the bias voltage of the transistors in the amplifier circuitry.
This holds true essentially for any class amplifier. The current draw won't be a large amount, but amps even with no input signal still draw power and produce heat.
