Hey guys,
I've seen some Alpine HUs with built in XOs. My question is.. what are they used for? i mean i know what XO does..to limit certain frequency from entering types of drivers, but..most component speakers has their own XOs and some amps has built in pass filters..so again what is their real function? 0_o

not all amplifiers have crossovers built in. the alpine integrated XO allows adjustment of frequency, cut/boost, and Q which lets you tune the entire system from one spot. It's a matter of convenience.
component set crossovers only split high/low for the tweeter/midrange. they don't act as a HPF for the midrange though, which is something often desired to limit speakers from bottoming out.
If you're using external EQs and crossovers, you can bypass all of the native ones on the alpines though and just send a flat signal to the full range pre-outs.
