Getting above sub for cheap
need to know about the amp
the dude i'm getting the sub off has a Phillips 4 channel amp, model "dap 650" which i haven't been able to find any info about
So i don't know wattage. But it's an 8 ohm sub and 4 ohm amp.
Is there any way to tell if this amp will run the sub properly if bridged, or any info about the amp at all

sub is 15" Kicker comp, 250W rms 500W max

thanks

Hey Simon, 250W rms is not much when it comes to bass. Trust me, once you crank up the volume, that speaker won't take much. I've tried 500W rms subs and even that is not enough. Now I'm using 1000W rms sub from MA Audio.
I wouldn't buy Phillips 4 channel amp. What you need is 1 or 2 channel sub amp to drive it properly. Try 300W or higher. Remember, most speakers are blown from amps that distort when over driven. Besides, a strong amp will put out clean sounds.

So what would be my cheapest/best option for buying an amp to power this sub? I'll most likely bridge it, just need to know what sort of wattage i need. Whether peak power or rms when and when not bridged or what.

try the jbl gto300.1 here are the specs
204 watts RMS x 1 channel at 4 ohms
and
294 watts RMS x 1 channel at 2 ohms,
since that sub only has one 4 ohm coil that 204 rms rating would do good with that sub.
