Replace Passive Sub with Powered?

I have a fairly basic HTiB and have upgraded all the speakers that came with, except for the sub. It is a passive speaker that connects to the unit via a speaker connection like all the others (no special sub output or anything). Is replacing this with a powered version as simple as swapping them out? Anything special I should know about? My system is a fairly bare-bones 350 watt, so I am not expecting the moon, just a little better than the one that came with.

Thanks!

if your receiver came equipped with a subwoofer output or an LFE output, it should be fairly simple to connect a powered sub, but yours is different. If you want to get a powered sub make sure that you get something that has speaker level inputs or high level inputs. You will be able to connect your speaker outputs on this type of powered subwoofer.
