from digital cable box-run optical out to onkyo optical in, run component video out to wega component video in from dvd-run component video out to wega component video in, run coaxial audio out to onkyo coaxial audio in (since this is default for onkyo dvd audio setup)
this should do it. let me know if forgot something

Here's what people advise me to do. Can I change dvd audio default setup?
DVD: -video(component connection if available, otherwise s-video) directly to the tv -sound(optical digital cable) into the reciever
CABLE: -video(s-video) directly to the tv -sound(digital coaxial cable) to the reciever

yes, on unit press the dvd button on unit press digital input and coaxial appears press digital input again and optical appears if in future you want coaxial again, the digital input button will cycle back to it enjoy!
