Any other farmers on this site or is it just me? Anyways, we just upgraded our plow tractor from a MX/Magnum 210 to a Magnum 275. This thing is sweet as fu<k. The 210 was awesome, but this thing is just unbelievable. It puts out about 75 more horse power than the 210. I know that doesn't seem like a lot, but when you're talking diesel motors it is. I'll post some pics of this thing tomorrow. It just got dropped off here earlier today. I love that new tractor smell.

I tried to take some pictures, but it's 2am and kinda hard. I'm just so excited about the new tractor that I had to show it to someone.

The engine is from CNH Engine Corporation made in WI.

And yeah, $100K plus the trade for the old one. They gave us about $80K for the old one, so we got it for about $180K. Some people are still asking that for a used one with 300 hours on it.

I have a few stupid questions.

What do you farm?

What does a tractor do?

Can I put those tires on my Jeep?

You got $80,000 trade in on your old tractor? How old was it?

And Pit......

1). Anything he wants with it.

2). At $180,000 price tag....anything he wants as well.

3). Don't put that in writing. Some fool in the ghetto is probably already thinking it.

We farm about 1,000 acres of corn, beans and alfalfa (for the cows).

We will be using this tractor for chisel plowing, conditioning, discing etc. We have a different tractor for everything we have to do around here.

Wow. They hold their value then. What was the reason for the upgrade?

1000 acres. Holy crap Batman lol. That much land in NJ would be worth fort knox.

Reason for upgrade was we bought a new conditioner and the 210 just couldn't pull it fast enough. Needed a little more power. I can't wait to try it out, but not looking forward to chisel plowing the whole 1,000 acres this year. I hope this one can pull that thing faster than 5 MPH like the old one. I hate chisel plowing. I just takes too damn long.

Yeah, land here is worth around 3-5 grand an acre depending on how good the ground is.

Hell yeah. Best job ever. Work for 4-6 months out of the year and sit on your azz the rest. I wouldn't even actually call it work, more like just driving around listening to music all day.

Farms around here are no bigger than a few acres tops. They sell their goods at a premium for sure. At the local mart we get corn at $3/4 ears out of season, $5/dozen in season. I love corn on the cob. I'd eat it everyday if I could lol.

Don't get me started on fruit. We pay $.89 an orange here in the supermarkets.

It's one of the reasons I started my own strawberry patch years ago. My daughter loves them. In season I pick a bowl full a day. I have grapes too.

We don't grow any sweet corn because our neighbor gives us bags full of ears every year for free. We used to have a garden for a while. Had to stop that when we built the new shed on top of it two years ago. We grew almost anything we could. Tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers (made pickles out of those), potatoes, pumpkins etc. Had a small patch of strawberries in the back yard that grew from a batch of rotten ones that we threw out, and they grew every year for about ten years. Got a few trees in the yard that were growing here before I was born. Apple tree, cherry tree, blackberry tree, gooseberry bush and a few others I can't remember at the moment.

I remember playing Simfarm when I was growing up and oranges were always the most profitable. Never tried to grow any for real though. I just don't think they would grow very good around here. Temperatures and precipitation are just so random where I live.

About tractors holding value, the first tractor my dad ever bought was a 1974 International 574. He bought it brand new in '74. We're in the process of restoring it at the moment, but it's still worth more than what he payed for it brand new. I might just do a restore log of it. I have some pics of the dismantle, but it has a long way before we can get it looking good. Kinda hard to find parts for it though.

We actually got a really good deal on this tractor. Having friends that work at the dealer is a plus. We bought a brand new combine two years ago. Guess how much that cost!?!

Ever go to any tractor pulls? There's one near where I live every year. I've been to the last two. I started going because the girl I'm dating's grand father pulls in them. He drives a little red International. They're rather entertaining. I like the tractor trailer pulls more so though, and the on road, off road 4x4 trucks.

Yeah, there's an event that goes on here every year called The Thresherman's Reunion. They have tractor pulls, horse pulls, lawn mower pulls, steam engine pulls, etc. Those things put out some serious HP. I love watching those kinds of things. Plus it makes it just that much more entertaining waiting for one of them to blow up and when they do, WOW.

I made it to the last level but I keep getting caught up on those boxes. I can't make it over that hill without either tipping over or blowing the motor.

Nice. I've never seen a plow quite like that one before. And being a seven bottom plow, those tractors have to have a good amount of power to turn the soil. Unless that ground is really soft. The ground around here isn't that forgiving.

Used the new tractor for the first time today and all i have to say is HOLY SH!T we need a bigger chisel plow now. I can't think of anything that this thing can't pull. It was like "what plow?", and it was two feet in the ground going 7 MPH. Although it took me four and a half hours to do 28 acres it was fun.
