My house is 16 years old. It's two-story. The electrician who wired us for cable messed us up. We have 2 cable outlets downstairs and 4 upstairs. Upstairs, he ran cable to one, split it, ran it to the next, split it, ran it to the next, split it and ran it to the next. By the time you get to the last two sets on the line the signal degradation gives us lousy reception on some of the channels. I want to re-wire it but how can I have 4 outlets upstairs without signal degradation? Plus the cable he used is not up to today's standards. We have the worst cable company in the world, but with the way my house is wired, I can't go to Direct TV or Dish because there's too much signal loss to push a digital signal.
